Shopping for the wedding

My HTB is really alert.  He reminded blur me that the current GSS would be a good opportunity to get discounted items.  In fact, he had already gotten his shoes which he currently intends to wear for the wedding.  In view of my laggardness, I made out a checklist of things to get during this current sale:

  1. Ladies shoes (2) *1 for actual wedding, 1 for pre-wedding shoot? -> To check if any of some currently unused pairs hanging in my shoe cabinet now could be used for the pre-wedding shoot.
  2. Men’s shoes *for pre-wedding shoot*
  3. Socks (men)
  4. Bedsheets *have to find out the size of bed that the dimensions of room can fit*
  5. Appropriate underwear for wedding wear
  6. Lingerie *wink*
  7. Bed
  8. Mattress (no place to store these 2 items in the meantime)
  9. Bolsters
  10. Pillows
  11. Jewellery?? (Staff of my bridal studio had mentioned that my package includes accessories like veil, headpieces, may need to go for fitting of gown first before deciding on type of jewellery needed?)
  12. Gifts for both sets of parents

Ladies and recently married couples, what may be other stuff I should get now?

Details of GSS:
Date – 29th May – 26th Jul

  2. yup decide on your wedding dress before you select jewellery, accessories, flowers and underwear. the under garments really depends if your dress needs it, or just ordinary ones will do (if you know what i mean). i bought a corset for my dress but in the end realise that i cannot breathe with that and the dress and it looks funny so i had to return it. my dress has some in built corset already…

back to the similar thing: think not only the things you need for wedding but also the marriage – cookware, utensils, furniture (some only since you don’t have a house yet), kitchenware. i’m sure GSS has great sales for those!!! time to stock up!

can’t think of anything else that you need for the wedding. except maybe clinch a deal for your high tea/lunch type of reception during this GSS time? don’t know if it’ll last until march :p

remember to continue to build your r/s during this engagement time. many just focus on the wedding day and prep and forget that it is your r/s that matters – now and after the tiring wedding day. also, stay healthy. don’t lose sleep, healthy food and don’t be stressed. don’t ever be like me – a coughing bride. W had to feed me cough mixture just before i walk down the aisle and i had to chew on lozenges so that i won’t cough! i was coughing non-stop walking down the aisle during my rehearsal 2 days before. nevertheless, it was memorable cos despite all odds, we are now married and that’s most impt :)

Thanks for the tips. I’ve already have a colleague who is thinking about having her wedding in the 2nd half of 2010 wanting me to pass my research to her and I think all your comments on these wedding posts will be useful to her too.

Buying things for marriage living is a little hard now mainly because we haven’t yet gotten our place and I don’t really cook (as of now. :p )

Right now we’re thinking of having our church ceremony right before the banquet dinner so most probably will not need a lunch reception?

Hehe, this point of the marriage r/s is not so much a concern for us coz it’s my HTB’s priority too. Good point about keeping healthy.

And yes, most important point is that both got married to each other at the end of the day.
